Russia has lost more than 1,500 soldiers in the past week in the ongoing conflict in Kharkiv, despite Vladimir Putin's claims that he has "no plans" to take Ukraine's second-largest city.
As of last night, Russia has lost 1,572 soldiers and 263 units of military equipment in the past seven days, including 75 drones, 66 military vehicles, and eight tanks, according to Ukraine’s General Staff of the Armed Forces.
In the past 24 hours, Russian troops have attempted to breach Ukraine’s defenses using aircraft and guided aerial bombs, resulting in about a dozen ground skirmishes.
Last month, tens of thousands of Russian forces crossed the border into the Kharkiv region to capture the city. However, Mr. Putin, speaking in Beijing last week, stated that his troops have "no plans as of today" to take control of Kharkiv city.
This news follows a deadly attack by Russian forces on a busy lakeside resort on the edge of Kharkiv and assaults on surrounding villages, which killed at least 11 people and wounded dozens.
