Russia ‘downs 10 Atacms missiles over Crimea’

The Russian defense ministry announced that its air forces have successfully neutralized 10 long-range missiles, identified as ATACMS, which were launched by Ukraine's military towards Crimea overnight.

While the ministry's statement on the Telegram messaging app did not specify any resulting damage from the attack, the appointed governor of Sevastopol, a Crimean port, reported that missile debris fell in a residential area.

Governor Mikhail Razvozhayev conveyed on his Telegram messaging channel that, according to initial reports, there were no injuries resulting from the incident.

A US official disclosed on Tuesday that ATACMS missiles and air defense interceptors, sanctioned by President Joe Biden on April 24, were already being deployed to support Ukrainian forces.

This development coincided with the head of Kyiv’s military intelligence cautioning about Russia's sudden offensive in the northeastern region, placing Ukraine on high alert as Moscow's troops advanced towards Kharkiv.
