China's support allows Russia to wage war against Ukraine - Stoltenberg

During a discussion at the NATO Youth Summit in Brussels, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg highlighted China's pivotal role in enabling Russia's aggression against Ukraine. Stoltenberg emphasized that China, as Russia's largest trading partner, provides essential components for Russia's weaponry, including microelectronics and advanced technology crucial for missiles and drones. Stoltenberg also underscored the significance of China, North Korea, and Iran in supplying Russia with ammunition and weapons, essential for its military actions against Ukraine.

Stoltenberg emphasized the interconnectedness of global security, noting that dividing regions like Asia and Europe is obsolete. He stressed the need to address security challenges posed by China, especially considering NATO's partnerships with countries like Japan, South Korea, Australia, and New Zealand in the Indo-Pacific region. While reaffirming NATO's role as a defense alliance for North America and Europe, Stoltenberg highlighted the alliance's awareness of global threats, including cyber and space domains.

Regarding China's expanding influence, Stoltenberg pointed out its presence in various regions, including cyberspace, Africa, and the Arctic, as well as attempts to control critical infrastructure in NATO countries. He clarified that NATO's focus isn't about relocating to the Indo-Pacific but about recognizing the evolving global landscape and its implications for security.
