Putin says Russian forces are advancing on all fronts against Ukraine

On Wednesday, President Vladimir Putin remarked that Russian forces were steadily fortifying their positions across the Ukrainian front, progressing as planned. Despite significant aid from the United States and its allies, Ukrainian forces have been steadily pushed back in key areas over recent months.

During a meeting at the Kremlin with Defense Minister Andrei Belousov, Security Council Secretary Sergei Shoigu, and top generals, Putin affirmed that the military's actions were aligning with the approved plan by the General Staff. Addressing the generals, Putin emphasized the importance of effective frontline operations for peaceful resolution, a longstanding goal of the Russian government.

Expressing gratitude to Shoigu for his past contributions as defense minister, Putin highlighted the clarity brought to military management amid the current hostilities. He assigned Shoigu with overseeing military and security affairs within the state.

Regarding Belousov, the newly appointed defense minister, Putin noted the necessity of his appointment amidst increasing defense spending, projected to reach 8.7% of GDP, though still below the Soviet era's 13% in the mid-1980s. Putin underscored the importance of judicious resource utilization within the state's development strategy.

Putin commended Belousov for his economic expertise and contributions to drone and unmanned vehicle development. He affirmed that there would be no alterations to the army's General Staff, with Chief of the General Staff Valery Gerasimov in attendance, emphasizing its successful and stable operational rhythm.
