NYP: “James Bond” submarine could become Ukraine’s top high-tech weapon against Russians

A Ukrainian enterprise nestled in the heart of the United Arab Emirates has just wrapped up the construction of a groundbreaking prototype: the Kronos stealth vehicle, reports the New York Post.

Crafted by Highland Systems, this aquatic marvel is designed to silently approach adversaries, unleashing devastating torpedo strikes or deploying magnetic mines undetected onto enemy vessels. While Ukrainian deployment remains unconfirmed, Highland Systems reveals a line-up of eager nations ready to place their orders.

Equipped with the state-of-the-art "Black Scorpion" torpedo system from Italy, boasting an impressive range of 3000m, the Kronos submarine stands ready to neutralize any surface or underwater threat with ease, ensuring its self-defense capabilities against hostile forces.

Measuring nine meters in length, this vessel can zip across the water at speeds of up to 50mph and reach 31mph when submerged, thanks to its innovative hybrid engine, a fusion of electric and diesel systems.

Capable of diving to depths of 250 meters, the Kronos can sustain itself for up to 36 hours underwater, making it perfect for extended missions. Alongside its collapsible wings for convenient transport, this vessel is equipped with a suite of James Bond-esque gadgets, including an underwater drone and a reconnaissance quadcopter.

Navigating the depths is a breeze for the pilot, with interior digital screens providing seamless control. Alternatively, it can operate as a stealth drone, controlled remotely.

Highland Systems reports that sea trials have been underway for the past year, with the vessel currently undergoing modernization and upgrades based on test results. Among the enhancements are a more powerful and quieter engine, alongside upgraded electric batteries.

These upgrades are slated for completion by September, according to a Highland Systems spokesperson.
