Macron wants France to go to war with Russia: Le Pen

French politician Marine Le Pen has warned that President Emmanuel Macron's actions could lead France into a war with Russia. Le Pen, who has run for president three times, criticized Macron's recent statements about sending NATO trainers to Ukraine and permitting Kiev to use Western-supplied weapons to target specific locations in Russia. According to RT, she believes these actions could escalate the current conflict into a "world war."

Le Pen's remarks come amid heated debates in the West regarding the extent to which Ukraine should be allowed to strike inside Russia with Western long-range weapons. Some NATO member countries support such strikes, while NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has encouraged lifting certain restrictions on the use of Western arms.

On Tuesday, Macron suggested that NATO should enable Ukraine to "neutralize military sites" within Russia that are launching attacks on Ukraine, even if these sites are deep within Russian territory. Le Pen condemned this idea, arguing it risks triggering a global conflict.

Le Pen concluded that Macron's stance indicates he wants to lead France into war with Russia, a move she "extremely firmly opposes" due to the "absolutely staggering danger" it poses to France. She has consistently criticized Macron for using the Ukraine conflict for political gain and has opposed Ukraine's admission into NATO and the EU, economic sanctions on Russia, and the delivery of heavy weapons to Kiev.

On Friday, Stoltenberg revealed that some NATO nations never imposed restrictions on Kiev's use of Western weapons. Additionally, reports indicated that the US, which previously restricted Ukraine from using American arms outside recognized Ukrainian territory, had now permitted strikes on certain parts of Russia. This was confirmed by Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky's office, which stated that limited strikes are now authorized against direct threats to the Kharkov Region, where Russian forces have recently advanced.

Moscow has repeatedly claimed that Western arms supplies to Kiev only prolong the war and accused Ukraine of using these weapons to attack civilian infrastructure within Russia. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova on Friday denounced the Western discussions about allowing Ukraine to strike deep inside Russia as "a classic NATO-style manipulation."
